How is information protected?

  • eREC employs security at two levels: control of access to account information and security of transmission over the Internet.
  • Account information is stored within a highly secure, firewall-protected database with daily backups, ensuring seamless availability. Account access security is accomplished by the use of personal access codes:
    • User ID and Password for personal account maintenance / updates by the member; AND
    • Double Password Protection to view emergency contact information by use of a confidential system generated eREC Member ID and optional Security Access Code.
  • Transmission security is achieved by the use of a security standard used by government and financial institutions to transmit sensitive information, which includes the highest level of encryption, or data encoding, available.

What information is available to others?

  • Depending on the display mode selected by the user, only names and/or telephone numbers of individuals provided as emergency contacts are available; the same information provided to schools and Human Resources today.
  • Also, any special alert messages provided by the member are displayed online as well.
  • The major advantage of eREC is that it allows the entry and storage of this information within one secure, centralized location, and everyone that needs it is always updated.

Who can access information?

  • Members control who can access to their information. Access to information is granted to anyone provided with the eREC Member ID. Otherwise, information is restricted.
  • In the event of emergency, emergency response personnel such as hospital staff members or police officers locate the Member Card when searching for identification. They are able to access the eREC account using the Member Card.
  • School officials or Human Resources personnel retrieve the Member ID number from personal records. eREC provides these organizations with the member’s ID electronically, if authorized by the member.
  • No more forgetting to update a school or employer of a number change.
